Editor's note: Just after 9 p.m., CN Rail said the precautionary evacuation has been lifted. It's also been confirmed that one railcar is leaking diesel.

Police are at the scene of a 10-railcar train derailment near Hearst. 

OPP shared on social media around 6 p.m. that they are at the scene of a derailment on Highway 583 in Jogues, which is southwest of Hearst in Northern Ontario.

People are asked to avoid the area.

The incident happened about 2:45 p.m. today (June 24) when about 10 railcars derailed, said Ashley Michnowski, CN Rail senior manager of media relations.

"There are no reports of injuries or fires at this time. One of the railcars is confirmed to be leaking. As a precaution, a local evacuation has been put in place by local emergency services," she said.
