The launch of the city's microtransit on-demand pilot project is delayed, but an information session on what it's all about is still a go for today.

Today (July 25), the City of Timmins is holding a public information session for a new on-demand bus service in Porcupine and South Porcupine. It's happening in the Northern College gymnasium from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 6-8 p.m.

While the service was set to launch on Aug. 1, it's been tentatively delayed to Sept. 3.

"Necessary changes were required to driver schedules, and we are now working to meet collective agreement deadlines and ensure we are minimizing the impact to drivers and transit customers," reads the City of Timmins news release.

The on-demand service will use shared-ride transportation booked through the Timmins Transit on-demand app, online or by calling Timmins Transit. The shared rides will bring people to a spot to ride the main bus routes.

The information session is a chance to see the expanded route map and watch demonstrations on how to book and navigate trips on the app.
