A Porcupine-area man has been fined $950 for night hunting during the moose season.
Trevor Hayter pleaded guilty to unlawfully hunting wildlife at night and received a $950 fine.
He was also ordered to remove a plywood hunting blind from public land where the violation took place.
The firearm used during the offence will be returned once the fine is paid.
Court heard that on the morning of October 13, 2014, Hayter was unlawfully hunting prior to sunrise in Bordeleau Township, southwest of Chapleau.
He loaded three rounds of ammunition into his high-powered hunting rifle when he heard a conservation officer approaching his moose hunting blind in the darkness.
Justice of the Peace Monique Mechefske heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Chapleau, on January 14, 2015.
You can only hunt from half an hour before sunrise to half an hour after sunset.
If you are in an area inhabited by wildlife during the period from half an hour after sunset to half an hours before sunrise, your firearm must be unloaded and encased.
