Ahead of an upcoming provincial music festival, a trio sang O'Canada at this week's meeting

Ahead of an upcoming provincial music festival, a trio of students performed at council this week.

École secondaire catholique Thériault is hosting Quand ça nous chante from Feb. 23-26.

“This is a provincial festival that highlights some of the best in music among our Franco-Ontarian community," said Timmins Mayor Michelle Boileau at the Feb. 14 council meeting.

To celebrate the upcoming event, three students — Méa Dion, Kiersten Trottier and Evan Nichols — performed O'Canada to kick off the Valentine's Day meeting.

Watch their rendition below, the performance starts around the 2:20-minute mark.

The Friday, Feb. 24, performance for the festival is open to the general public.

The show will feature Timmins singer-songwriter Céleste Lévis, Sudbury author and composer Stef Paquette, and the Timmins Symphony Orchestra.

It's being held at the Charles-Fournier auditorium at Theriault. Doors open at 7:45 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.
