Located in the heart of the city, Gillies Lake offers a walking trail, beach, picnic tables, sports field and more.
The main parking areas are off Lakeshore Drive, where there is also a chip bus and the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority office, and Highway 655.
The beach area is being maintained, but there are no lifeguards. The water is tested by the Porcupine Health Unit, and advisories are posted online here.
