Walk in the Park: Mountjoy Historical Conservation Area (11 photos)

There are walking trails and plenty of green space to enjoy

Located along the Mattagami River, Mountjoy Historical Conservation Area offers walking paths, picnic tables and more.

In the parking lot you'll find the historical plaque for CFCL, the first French-language radio station in Ontario and there are great views of the river. On the east shore you can see the Timmins sawmill, which marked its 100th anniversary in 2019.

The main parking lot is just west of the Mattagami River bridge. This is where the Mountjoy Farmers' Market sets up every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

While the City of Timmins opened parks and green spaces it owns recently, there are still changes for COVID-19.

The washrooms at the Mountjoy park are closed. At sporting fields, teams can only train, with scrimmages and games not being permitted. The interactive playground in the north end of the park is still closed as well.

The maximum group size for social gathering is currently 10 people with physical distancing.
