The popular outdoor summer concert series is returning this year and applications are open for musicians hoping to perform.
This summer will mark the 10th Annual Summer Concert Series hosted at the Schumacher Lions McIntyre Park, and the fifth annual at Bannerman Park in Porcupine. It is presented by Tourism Timmins, James Toyota, La Caisse Populaire, Alliance and Tim Hortons. DJ Taz is also returning to work alongside Tourism Timmins.
Each show features several acts and musicians are needed to hit the stage at both locations.
In Schumacher, the events are June 26, July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, and Aug. 7, 14, 21, 28 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Bannerman Park concerts are July 11 and 25, as well as Aug. 8 and 22 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
“Members of the Lion’s Club and the Bannerman Park Committee put in countless hours maintaining and beautifying these parks, which are often under-utilized. We hope to create better awareness of these two gems with each featuring a covered pavilion and ample parking," said Guy Lamarche, manager of Tourism and Events, in a news release.
While the Schumacher concerts were previously held at Hollinger Park, there is still ongoing remediation work there, so Lamarche said the 10-week concert series will be at the Goldcorp Pavilion once again.
Pater Lawryniw of DJ Taz is excited to be part of the concert series again.
"This long standing tradition is appreciated by the thousands of residents who support the program each and every year and by our many talented artists who get to share their passion with the many in attendance each week. To be a part of this exciting tradition is like a dream come true," he said.
Applications are available online here or in-person at Tourism Timmins, 325 Second Ave. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 3 at noon.
