Recruiting healthcare professionals to northern communities is the goal of a new Kirkland Lake partnership.
The Kirkland Lake Multicultural Society (KLMS) and Blanche River Health (BRH) are collaborating to showcase the unique benefits of the area around Kirkland Lake and Englehart, aiming to attract doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals.
The multicultural society offers incoming families a chance to get settled and learn more about their new or potential new home.
“Every family is unique, so no two visits will be the same,” said Anna McPherson, KLMS president, in the news release.
“Our small but mighty communities offer a lot of activities, events and opportunities to make new friends for those oving to the area. We hope that offering enriching experiences for newcomers will help them envision building their futures in our beautiful part of the North.”

Blanche River Health is a hospital corporation with 74 beds at sites in Kirkland Lake and Englehart, serving both municipalities and their surrounding communities.
The importance of belonging to a community when it comes to attracting healthcare professionals is key, said Jorge VanSlyke, BRH president and CEO, in a press release.
“It’s important to recognize we all need a sense of belonging, including families when giving an overview of life in our part of the province,” said VanSlyke.
“We hope that offering enriching experiences for the families of newcomers will help them begin building their futures and become thriving members of our community.”
The partnership started in April 2024, and as part of the deal, every BRH employee gets a membership to KLMS.
