TIMMINS - An official video of a local band's world-record-winning concert is finally available.
Back in November, Miners and Sons, along with a few lucky ticket-holders, went 9,000 feet underground to claim the Guinness World Record for the deepest concert.
Today, the band released a video of them playing Blink 182's All the Small Things, which is one of the six songs on the 15-minute set list.
Miners and Sons includes singer/bassist Jeremy Wilson, back-up vocals/percussionist Norm Dwyer, guitarist Sean Harris, guitarist Steph Berube and drummer John Olaveson.
The full set list for the show was:
- Heavy by Collective Soul
- Heavy by The Glorious Sons (who have played Rock on the River in Timmins twice)
- All the Small Things by Blink 182
- What I Got by Sublime
- Bad Moon Rising by CCR
- New Orleans is Sinking by The Tragically Hip
The Timmins record was set at Glencore's Kidd Mine, the deepest base-metal mine in the world.
To get a feel for how deep they were, it would take roughly five CN Towers stacked one on top of the other to reach the surface from the depth where the concert was held.
The Shaft Bottom Boys were the previous record holders at 6,213 ft or 1,893.8 m below the surface on March 7, 2020, at Vale’s Creighton Mine in Greater Sudbury.
If you're looking to catch Miners and Sons live, their next show is at Northern College's Miners Balls on Feb. 21. The Shaftmen and Failed Attempt are also in the lineup for the event.
