Deborah Robertson, Ifeoma Kasimanwuna, Stacey Gagnon, and Cory Robin are spreading the word about Welcome to Timmins Night.

There’s always something new to find in Timmins, and an annual event makes finding services easier.

The 31st Welcome to Timmins Night is bringing together local services, clubs, and information at the McIntyre Curling Club on Wednesday, Sept. 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. It’s free to attend and it’s not just for those who recently moved to the area.

“Everyone is invited to attend,” said Timmins and District Multicultural Centre local immigration partnership co-ordinator Ifeoma Kasimanwuna. “There are lots of new and returning exhibitors.”

Representatives from over 100 not-for-profit groups are ready to share information on what they have to offer.

“It always changes, and there’s always something to learn,” she said. “So they can expect to learn something because, with every Welcome to Timmins Night, there’s always something new, some organization introducing new services.”

While at the event, attendees can fill out a passport by having the people at the booths sign or stamp their passports to enter a draw for five gift packs of $500 in gift certificates from the Downtown Timmins BIA.

“You just might be lucky,” said Kasimanwuna.

Anigco Eagle sponsored the prizes for the draws for the fourth year.

“We are really grateful for them that we have this icing on the cake,” said Kasimanwuna.

The Downtown Timmins BIA is also a community partner for the event.

Executive director Cory Robin said it’s good to see Agnico Eagle’s investing in local businesses.

“This goes right to the local business owners and can be accepted anywhere in downtown Timmins,” he said.

“This is a community-run event, run by volunteers who have given their time and energy to do this, and I think everyone should come out and take a stab at winning $500 to spend downtown.”
