COCHRANE - A body has been found at a residence destroyed by a fire near Cochrane.
Just before 4 a.m. Dec. 27, a James Bay OPP officer discovered a structure fire at a residence on Highway 11 in Fournier Township west of Cochrane. A body was later recovered from the structure, says police.
The home and a detached garage were fully engulfed by the fire and eventually collapsed. Police have released the scene, but the investigation is ongoing.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Ontario Fire Marshal.
The investigation also includes the OPP forensic identification service and crime unit, and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario - Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
