Driver killed in Highway 65 crash

TIMISKAMING - One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash. 

Yesterday (Dec. 12) around 5 p.m., Temiskaming OPP responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 65 West in Barber Township. 

Police say a vehicle was overturned in a ditch. The driver was alone in the vehicle and was brought to the hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead. 

The victim is a 65-year-old from Barber Township. A postmortem examination is scheduled for a later date, said police.

Highway 65 was closed between Temiskaming Shores and Elk Lake for about 12 hours for the police investigation. It reopened early this morning. 

The police investigation is ongoing. It's under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
