Knife used in Kirkland Lake robbery, says police

KIRKLAND LAKE - A suspect brandished a knife and assaulted a person in an alleged robbery, says police. 

Kirkland Lake OPP received a call about a robbery on Tweedsmuir Road in Kirkland Lake on Oct. 19 around 6 p.m. 

"The caller witnessed a person brandish a knife towards the victim, and then assault the victim. Before departing on foot, the accused person had taken belongings of the victim," said police in a news release. 

Ethan Labine, 25, of Kirkland Lake is charged with assault, robbery with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. 

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in police custody. His next court date is on Nov. 6 in Kirkland Lake. 

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
