An intoxicated intruder entered an an acquaintance's P-Patch home last fall and assaulted her pre-teen son.

Wayne Wesley, 45, pleaded guilty Thursday to break-and-enter to commit assault and mischief in connection with the Sept. 25 incident.

Ontario Court Justice John Condon heard city police were contacted shortly after 1:15 a.m. about an unknown male who was in a home on Placid Avenue.

He kicked open a bedroom door where a 12-year-old and his friends were asleep. The Hearst man hit the boy in the face, assistant Crown attorney Karen Pritchard said. Wesley was intoxicated and wanted to know where the youngster's mother was, she told the judge.

When officers arrived, he suggested they do a public service.

"Kill me or I'll come back."

The accused was arrested and later released on an undertaking.

Defence lawyer Eric McCooeye said this wasn't a domestic violence situation.

"They were acquaintances," but not close ones, he told the court.

By the time Wesley had been released he had calmed down, the defence said. At the request of the lawyers, Condon ordered a pre-sentence and a Gladue report be prepared for the July 18 sentencing hearing.

"We will learn more" through the reports, McCooeye said.
