Over $72K in drugs, cash seized by police in Cochrane

COCHRANE - A drug bust in Cochrane has led to charges against three people. 

On Dec. 13 around 10:30 a.m., OPP executed a search warrant at a Sixth Street residence.

"The OPP remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community members. Operations like these are essential in combating the harmful effects of illicit drugs and the associated criminal activities," reads an OPP news release.

Suspected fentanyl and cocaine, and Canadian cash were seized by police. The total value of the seizure is about $72,500.

A 31-year-old from Brampton, a 44-year-old from Cochrane and 42-year-old from Cochrane were arrested and each is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • 2 counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
  • Possession of property obtained by a crime, under $5000

The accused are in police custody waiting for a bail hearing today (Dec. 14).

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
