Police find ditched vehicle on Highway 11, driver charged with impaired

The Moonbeam man was also issued a 90-day licence suspension and had the vehicle impounded for 7 days

SMOOTH ROCK FALLS - A man is facing charges after OPP found a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 11.

Around 6 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, a James Bay OPP officer found a vehicle in the ditch on the highway just east of Smooth Rock Falls.

When the driver was located, police allege that he had consumed "intoxicated substances." The driver was arrested and brought to the Iroquois Falls detachment for testing. 

A 42-year-old man from Moonbeam is charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, driving while under suspension, careless driving, fail to report accident, and fail to remain. 

The driver was issued a 90-day licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 5 in Cochrane.
