KIRKLAND LAKE - A teen who allegedly smashed up a truck has had their licence suspended and is facing charges, including driving with blood-alcohol concentration above zero, says police.
Kirkland Lake OPP were called to the single-vehicle crash on Grenfell Road around 6 a.m. on Nov. 1.
An abandoned pickup truck had been found off the road and was towed away. The driver was located at a local hospital where they were being treated for minor injuries. Officers administered an approved screening device test, which police say registered an alert.
"The OPP reminds motorists that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving. If you suspect someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, please dial 911 to report it," said Kirkland Lake OPP in a news release.
A 19-year-old from Thornloe is charged with failing to report an accident, and young driver blood-alcohol concentration above zero.
None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
