City sets date for Ward 5 election recount

An official recount for two Ward 5 candidates will take place next week.

In Monday's election, there were two votes separating Andrew Marks, who was elected with 2,637 votes, and Cory Robin, who received 2,635 votes.

According to the City of Timmins, an official recount will take place in council chambers Oct. 30 at 10 a.m.

Ward 5 is represented by four councillors. 

Kristin Murray earned the most votes with 3,369, Michelle Boileau received 3,280, Noella Rinaldo got 3,253, followed by Marks at 2,635.

The election also saw political newcomer George Pirie defeat incumbent Steve Black
