TimminsToday asked each of the candidates to submit a bio to introduce themselves to the voters. Here's Ward 2 (South Porcupine) candidate Lorne Feldman's:
My name is Lorne Feldman.
Many of you may recognize my last name from Feldman Timber, our family lumber operation that has been in the Timmins area for 109 years. After graduating from university and law school in Toronto, I returned home to continue the family business and am proud to say that a fifth generation of Feldmans has arrived on the scene with the birth of my daughter Maisey two years ago.
Eight years ago I moved to South Porcupine from Timmins when I met my wife, a lifelong east ender. Immediately I felt the sense of community and camaraderie among the residents and realized this is where I belong.
There is not a better place to raise a family, enjoy good friends and experience all that Northern Ontario has to offer than in South Porcupine and Porcupine.
The east end is truly a hidden gem.
My reason for running in this election is simple. I want our municipality to start taking care of the people who take care of it. The hard working men and women who have committed to live here, who work here, who raise their families here, who pay their taxes here, and who support local businesses and community initiatives.
I think you will agree we all deserve a quality of life that is both affordable and enjoyable.
Together we will make this happen.
