A tee-rific tourney: Annual event brings in $23K for YMCA

The date's already set for the 2025 edition

TIMMINS - A fun day on the links raised cash for youth programming.

The Timmins YMCA's 11th Annual Mixed Golf Tournament brought in over $23,000.

Sixty golfers played in the event held at the Hollinger Golf Club in August, with the cash raised helping the YMCA run programs for children and youth.

"We are incredibly grateful for the support this event has seen over the years. As a charity, we are thrilled that the impact continues to grow and allows the Y to help more children in Timmins ignite their potential through transformative experiences, helping our entire community shine," said Lorrie Turnbull, YMCA of Northeastern Ontario president and CEO, in a news release.

The money raised is on par with what was raised in the last couple of years. The 2023 total was $26,700 and in 2022, $23,104 was raised.

The date is already set for the 2025 edition of the tournament when it will be held Aug. 2-3 at the Hollinger.
