TIMMINS – The Hearst Lumberjacks battled back from a two-goal deficit to edge the Timmins Rock 3-2 Friday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest at McIntyre Arena.

Timmins collected the night’s initial tally during a man advantage, 15:55 into the match-up, when Hayden Rynard snagged a loose puck after a Braedyn Cyr shot that hit off the end boards and jammed it past Hearst starter Alexandre Boivin.

Still 1-0 Rock into the second period, they added to their lead just over five minutes in as Thomas Beard banged in a rebound during another man advantage opportunity.

Up a skater themselves, later in the session, Aiden Kalin put the Lumberjacks on the board by slamming one in from the left of Timmins’ starter Dryden Riley for his 18th goal of the season.

Kalin also extended a point streak to six with the tally.

In the final frame, Kalin collected another by steering in a backhand off a feed from Henry Ouellet.

Another Ouellet assist saw him supply a back-door feed to Adam Shillinglaw who came in and snapped the game-winner past Riley with 5:06 to play.

It also gave the Hearst captain points in nine consecutive contests.

That proved to be the night’s final marker as the visitors won for a seventh straight time, improving to 23-6-0-1 overall.

In defeat, the Rock fell to 20-12-0-0.
