Work to replace the Kraft Creek bridge is taking longer than anticipated.
A section of Airport Road has been closed since June 28 to allow for the work. While it was originally thought the road would be open by Sept. 2, a notice from the city says the closure has been extended to Sept. 21.
The closure affects Airport Road between Lafleur Drive and Laforest Road.
To get to the airport, drivers can use Laforest Road, which can be accessed by Highway 655 or MacLean Drive.
In February, Miller Paving was awarded the $4.5-million project.
The city was approved for funding for the work in 2016 through the Small Communities Fund, which has equal contributions (33.3 per cent each) from the municipal, provincial and federal governments. The money received through the grant must be spent by Dec. 31, 2020.
