Arrest made in 'edged weapon' assault

The alleged victim required hospital treatment for her injury

The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into a dispute which occurred on Aug. 19, 2016, at a Elm Street South residence.

During the dispute, a suspect is alleged to have used an edge weapon to assault the victim and then fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The victim suffered injury to her arm that required medical attention at the Timmins and District Hospital.

The suspect has been identified, located, and arrested by the Timmins Police Service. As a result, Katie Goudreau, 26, of Timmins, Ontario, has been charged with:

  • One count of Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • One count of Utter Threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused person remained in police custody and had a bail hearing at Provincial Court in Timmins, yesterday morning.
