The first-ever Khalsa Day celebration was held in Timmins in 2022.

The second annual Khalsa Day activities in Timmins are taking over some local streets.

To allow for the celebration, there are some temporary road closures today (Saturday, May 27).

Cedar Street is closed from Algonquin to Third Avenue from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

At 11 a.m., the parade will also affect traffic with short closures while the participants move through the area.

The parade starts at the Sikh Gurdwara on Cedar Street South and heads south to Second Avenue, then east on Second to Brunette Road. It then goes north on Brunette to Algonquin Boulevard and west on Algonquin back to Cedar Street.
