Facing off against local police and firefighters was a success for the Timmins Flyers.
The Midget A hockey team raised more than $4,000 for Lydia Allard, who was born with a rare neuromuscular disorder, at the game.
To raise the money, fans made a donation at the door. There was also a 50/50 draw, prize table, silent auction with NHL jerseys, and a door prize.
The charity hockey game has become a tradition for the team.
Prior to the game, Flyers head coach and owner Kim Barney told TimminsToday that the game lets players “find out that hockey isn’t just about playing the game, it’s about being involved in the community and helping people out.”
