Cobalt Public School on fire, major damage reported (3 photos)

'It looks like the building will be finished'

Volunteer firefighters were still trying to control a fire at the Cobalt Public School early this afternoon.

The school has been vacant since 2013.

Cobalt Mayor George Othmer tells BayToday the fire started this morning.

"It's on fire right now actually. (12:30 p.m.) It started this morning. It looks like the building will be finished.

"It's a two-story building and it started on the bottom floor and worked its way up to the second floor."

TimminsToday will update this story.
