TIMMINS - All residents voting for Timmins council members is the preferred voting system by the people who took a TimminsToday poll.

Recently, Timmins council gave staff the nod to draft a report to look at the way council members are elected in the municipality.

While creating that report is the only item approved by council so far, we wanted to check in with residents to get a feel for your preference.

There were 295 people to vote on the online poll, What ward system do you support for Timmins?

Having an election at large, where councillors and the mayor are voted for by all residents was the top choice, with 39 per cent of respondents preferring the option.

Sticking with the existing ward boundaries and electoral system earned 33 per cent of the vote. Twenty per cent of respondents chose a model with north, south, east and west wards, with two councillors representing each. Eight per cent of people are undecided.

Results are based on an online study of adult TimminsToday.com readers that are located in Timmins. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 5.69%, 19 times out of 20.
