A home located next to the 8th hole of the Kapuskasing Golf Club is for sale.

Whether it’s a house on a golf course or a historic church, a variety of unique properties are on the market in Northern Ontario.

Current listings showcase the region’s mix of properties for buyers looking for a business investment, a unique living space, or affordable land.

For golf lovers, a newly built home located next to the eighth hole of the Kapuskasing Golf Club is for sale at $450,000. The property has been listed for 126 days. Its annual property taxes are $5,000.

Another unique property is available just 12 minutes outside the Town of Cochrane.

Priced at $488,000, the 6,500-square-foot building was formerly a church and features a living space with cathedral ceilings. It has been on the market for 37 days, with annual property taxes of about $1,430.

In Iroquois Falls, The Imperial Restaurant on Main Street is listed for $399,000. The property has been on the market for 111 days, with annual property taxes nearing $9,200. 

The most expensive listing in the area is located in Cochrane, offering a 152-acre property priced at $1.4 million. The land includes a storage business with 43 enclosed units and a 10,000-square-foot industrial-sized storage garage. It has been on the market for eight days, with annual property taxes of $11,000.

On the flip side, the cheapest property is located in Hearst and is listed at $20,000

Situated on Front Street, this vacant land is positioned on the town's “busiest street” and offers a unique view of a colourful fish mural. The property has been on the market for 54 days and has an annual property tax of about $380.

Market overview

According to the Timmins, Cochrane and Timiskaming Districts Association of Realtors, the number of homes sold in the region totalled 98 in September 2024. The average price of homes reached $271,440, marking a 4.3 per cent increase from the previous year. This was down modestly by 2 per cent (two sales) from September 2023.

Active residential listings numbered 479 units on the market at the end of September, an increase of 12.4 per cent from the end of September 2023.

  • Cochrane: $85,000
  • Matheson: $196,000
  • Iroquois Falls: $299,000
  • Kapuskasing: $381,000
  • Hearst: $208,000
