Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh's tour of Northern Ontario continues today (July 23).

Singh is attending CreeFest in Cochrane this morning and is meeting with Timmins Mayor Michelle Boileau at 5 p.m.

Tonight, he is attending a meet and greet with Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus and Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP Carol Hughes at Full Beard.

Earlier this year, Angus and Hughes announced they are retiring from politics.

With a shake up in the electoral boundaries, the new riding in the area will be Kapuskasing-Timmins-Mushkegowuk. It starts in the Kirkland Lake area, capturing communities along Highway 11 North and extends up to Peawanuck. It has a population of 93,948.

The NDP has yet to nominate a local candidate for the 2025 federal election.

Gaetan Malette was named as the Conservative candidate for the riding in October 2023.

Singh's northern tour started yesterday in Timmins.
