On Monday, city council officially presented three new full-time recruits for the Timmins Fire Department.

A large contingent of the department were on hand at City Hall to support Michelle Reyns, Ryan Verreault and Scott Foster.

Mayor Tom Laughren had kind words for the new recruits and the fire department as a whole.

“When you think about firefighters in our community, when you think about the number of different events they’re involved in, the EMS personnel, it can’t be overstated how proud we are to have a group such as you, as well as the volunteer firefighters we have in this community. I urge you to keep up the great work and the good working relationship that we have. I wish you all the best as you move forward. It’s great to have our new people on and I know they will have a great career with the Timmins Fire Department,” said Laughren.

Reyns is the first female firefighter to be hired by the Timmins Fire Department.
