Freezing Rain Warning in effect for:

  • Timmins - Cochrane - Iroquois Falls
  • Kirkland Lake - Temiskaming Shores - Temagami
  • Kapuskasing - Hearst - Smooth Rock Falls

Freezing rain is expected today.

Hazards: Freezing rain with ice accretion of a few millimetres possible. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Snow and ice pellet accumulations of 5 to 10 cm possible. Easterly to southeasterly winds gusting to 60 km/h.

Timing: Freezing rain beginning this morning or early afternoon changing to rain tonight.

Discussion: Snow or ice pellets is expected to transition to freezing rain this morning or early afternoon. Freezing rain will change over to rain as the temperature rises above freezing tonight. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance.
