TRENTON - On 19 July 2019 Trenton Cadet Training Centre hosted a Graduation Parade for the 300 cadets who were on first serial of the General Training (GT) Course this summer.

This parade gave the cadets the opportunity to highlight the skills learned over the past two weeks of training and receive acknowledgement for their hard work throughout their course. The Reviewing Officer for this parade was Lieutenant-Colonel (LCol) Erik Rozema-Seaton, Commanding Officer of 426 Squadron at Canadian Forces Base 8 Wing Trenton. The parade was under the command of the Cadet Training Centre Warrant Officer First Class Stewart.

Several lucky cadets were specifically acknowledged for their hard work and dedication during the course and received the following awards:

The Lieutenant Colonel S.L. Beaton Trophy was awarded to Cadet Izabelle Jamieson from South Porcupine, ON and Cadet Jacky Men from Markham, ON. They were chosen for demonstrating the highest personal drill, dress, and deportment amongst their course mates, maintaining a high level of enthusiasm and esprit de corps among his/her flight and squadron, encouraging a team atmosphere, and leading by example throughout their course.

The Top Drill Team Commander Award was presented to the cadet who led their team through a rigorous competition held amongst the General Training Wing. Cadet Sofia Wasinski from Brampton, ON received this award. She had led her team to compete amongst the other flights in the General Training Course Group and had demonstrated strong leadership, excellence in personal drill, dress, and deportment, and of course, a loud and clear drill voice.

This two-week General Training course provides cadets who have recently joined the cadet program an introductory summer training experience where they will participate in a variety of activities from each speciality, to include drill and ceremonial, music, marksmanship, and expedition.
