With Christmas less than a month away, now is the time to experience a little holiday magic.
The activities happening in Timmins this week offer something for everyone – from kids to the young at heart.
Here are some of the activities that are on:
Window Wonderland Walk
Dec. 1, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., downtown Timmins
Take a tour of downtown businesses – some of which aren’t normally open in the evening. Participating stores are offering in-store incentives and even serving up something special for customers. A list of participating businesses is available here.
Porcupine Mall Craft and Vendor Show
Dec. 1, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Dec. 2, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Dec. 3, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Porcupine Mall, 4858 Hwy. 101 E.
This sold-out show features handmade items, along with local vendors. Entrance is free, proceeds from the booths are being donated to the Yo Mobile.
Annual Christmas Arts and Craft Sale
Dec. 1, 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Dec. 2, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Timmins Museum, 352 Second Ave., Timmins
Handcrafters have been busy getting ready for this tradition at the museum. Admission is $2.
Annual Poinsettia Tea and Bake Sale
Dec. 2, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
St. Matthew’s Anglican Cathedral, 331 Fifth Ave., Timmins
Bake and craft sale, silent auction and the inaugural Christmas Tree Decorating Contest and Silent Auction. Proceeds from the tree silent auction are being donation to the new Living Space warming centre. Lunch is $8 per person.
Holiday Fun Day
Dec. 2, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Get the family together for an afternoon of holiday cheer put on by the Downtown Timmins Business Improvement Association. Events are being held at the Timmins Public Library, Timmins Economic Development Corporation, and Timmins Museum. More information on the event is available here. A portion of Second Avenue will be closed to traffic for the event.
Pet Pictures with Santa
Dec. 2-3, noon to 4 p.m.
Timmins Family YMCA, 376 Poplar Ave.
It’s the last chance to get a picture of your fur baby with Santa. For a suggested donation of $10 to the Timmins and District Humane Society, you’ll get a CD with the photos to take home. In the first weekend almost $2,500 was raised for the humane society and organizers are hoping for another successful weekend.
