Moosonee school welcomes new principal

A Moosonee school is welcoming a new principal next week.

Kevin Wendling has been hired as the new school leader at Bishop Belleau School. He starts Nov. 16. 

The Northeastern Catholic District School Board made the announcement today.

According to the board, Wendling has 27 years experience in the education sector. He has taught in elementary and secondary schools, and has been a vice-principal and a principal.

“I am very excited to be joining the Bishop Belleau School family and traveling to Moosonee to join the community.  I am looking forward to meeting all of the students and staff and working with everyone to support Catholic education at Bishop Belleau School," he said in a news release.

The board also noted he is active member of Pariosse St-Jean de Brebeuf in Port Colborne.

“We welcome Mr. Wendling to our Board and to the Bishop Belleau School community.  His vast experience and dedication Catholic education will be a huge asset to our team. We sincerely appreciate the leadership he will bring to Bishop Belleau School," said director of education Tricia Weltz.

In his spare time, Wendling enjoys hiking, the outdoors, reading, audiobooks, travelling, and doing activities with his family.
