New to Canada and can't speak a lick of French? Check this out

There is also help for those who speak a lick or two

French as a second language course available to newcomers to Canada and Timmins are underway at ecole publique Lionel Gauthier Rue 145 St. Jean St. and Rue Shirley St.

Classes are designed to introduce newcomers to Canada’s French official language and will be offered at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels according to Natalie Turgeon the course director and instructor.

“The first couple of weeks we will start out as one group to determine the level of language profanely,” Turgeon said. “After that, if there are different levels of French language ability we will break off into beginner, intermediate or advanced groups.”

“There will be 15 sessions running from November 2 until the first week in March, 2017,” Turgeon said.

There is no cap on the number of people who may take the FSL classes.

“We will not have a cap on enrollment,” Turgeon said. “We will add more teachers to meet the demand of increased number of students interested in taking FSL.”

The FSL course is being taught through the Centre d'apprentissage du Nord-Est de l'Ontario (CANO) .
