New wildland fire being watched west of Attawapiskat

There were two new wildland fires confirmed by the evening of July 24:

  • Cochrane 24 (COC024) is a 10 hectare fire and is being observed. It is located 107 km west of Attawapiskat, and 15 kilometres south of the Attawapiskat River.
  • Parry Sound 3 PAR003: is a 0.1 hectare fire and is not under control. It is located 1 kilometre south of Three Mile Lake.

At the time of this update, there are 15 active wildland fires in the Northeast Region, all of which are being observed in the far north, except for 1 fire that not under control in the Parry Sound district.

The fire hazard is low to moderate across most of the northeast region. There is a high fire hazard in the Wawa fire management sector and the northwest end of the Chapleau fire management sector.
