KAPUSKASING - One person was arrested after an eight-hour long incident with a barricaded person.
Around 7 p.m. yesterday (Nov. 18), James Bay OPP says that one person was arrested in Kapuskasing in a barricaded person incident that started around 10:45 a.m. on Algonquin Street.
Police did not release the name of the person arrested or what they are charged with.
The OPP emergency response team (ERT), crisis negotiators, crime unit and critical incident command were on scene to help with the investigation. After the scene was cleared last night, police said there was no threat to public safety.
As a precaution, area schools were told about the investigation and were put under hold and secure procedures.
