NEWS RELEASE

ST. MARY'S GARDENS

On May 18, at 9:30 a.m., St. Mary’s Gardens Seniors Speakers Series will provide information on funeral planning and coping with grief. “It’s difficult to plan someone’s funeral while you’re grieving,” said Micheline Fleury, administrator at St. Mary’s Gardens. “This session will help people to understand the benefits of planning ahead and will deal with the grieving process as well.”

Chet Hartling from Miron-Wilson Funeral Home will speak about the different aspects of funeral planning, such as cremation and cemetery options. He’ll explain the benefits of planning your funeral ahead and discuss the Canadian Pension Plan Death Benefit.

Lynne Carrière from Maison funéraire Lessard-Stephens Funeral Home will talk about common reactions following a loss. She’ll outline ways to cope with grief, how to support and assist bereaved family and friends, and community resources.

Seniors, family members, and caregivers are invited to attend.

Admission is free. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Seating is limited. People wishing to attend can RSVP to Dawna Carrier, St. Mary’s Gardens Community Relations Coordinator, at [email protected] or (705) 267-5000, ext. 8006.

St. Mary’s Gardens entrance and parking are located on Pine Street North across from the 101 Mall. Additional parking is available at the 101 Mall. St. Mary’s Gardens will feature different speakers every three to four weeks, covering a variety of topics from financial and estate planning to fraud prevention and health.
