Power outage affecting thousands in the Timmins area (updated)

While power has been restored to some customers, others may be without hydro until after 2 p.m.

Update, 3 p.m.: The outage map shows that all power has been restored.

Update, noon: Power has been restored to most customers in Timmins proper and South Porcupine. The outage map shows that power has not been restored from Porcupine (near the Bristol Road lights) to the Matheson area. About 1,000 customers are impacted in that area. The estimated time for power to return is 2:15 p.m.

The area from Foleyet to Gogama is also expected to have power restored by 2:15 p.m.

Nearly 3,000 customers along Highway 11 from Opasatika to Fauquier remain without power. The estimated time for restoration is 2:45 p.m.

A power outage is impacting thousands of people in the Timmins area. 

Around 11:20 a.m., the hydro went out. The Hydro One outage map shows customers affected across Timmins. It stretches down Highway 101 to Foleyet and down Highway 144 to  Gogama.

Along Highway 11, Hydro One is showing customers impacted from Matheson to Hearst. 

In Timmins, over 14,000 customers are impacted by the outage. The estimated time for the power to be back on is 2:30 p.m.

From Kapuskasing to Hearst, the estimated time for the hydro to return is 3 p.m.
