TIMMINS - Tonight's your chance to learn more about the proposal for a local service hub offering mental health and addiction treatment services and transitional housing support.

A week ago, the Cochrane District Services Board (CDSB) unveiled its plans to acquire the Ramada Inn at 1800 Riverside Dr. to create the Timmins and Area Wellness Centre of Excellence (WCE) - Health Hub.

The two-hour meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.

CDSB released the agenda last week. The session starts with a land acknowledgement and introduction, followed by an overview by deputy paramedic chief Seamus Murphy.

At 7 p.m., there is a small table and full-room discussion. The questions noted in the agenda are why there's a need for the centre, what it is, what's the community's role, and how it can be integrated into the community.

The participating agencies are the CDSB, Mushkegowuk Council, Timmins Academic Family Health Team, the Canadian Mental Health Association - Cochrane Temiskaming, Kunuwanimano Child and Family Services, Timmins and District Hospital, and the North Eastern Ontario Family and Children's Services (NEOFACS).

Another community engagement session is also planned for October,
