Timmins Police says Airport Road is fully reopened.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have seen the crash should call police at 705-264-1201.

UPDATE, 11:20 A.M.:

The jaws of life were used to extricate someone from a vehicle after a crash on Airport Road this morning. 

Six people were injured in the collision, with three being brought to the hospital, said Timmins Police. The injuries range from serious to minor.

The crash involving a Ford pickup truck and Nissan passenger vehicle happened around 8:30 a.m. at the Westmount Boulevard intersection. Airport Road remains closed from Theriault Boulevard to Lamminen Avenue. 

Timmins Police's traffic section, technical traffic collision investigators and the forensic identification unit are investigating.

Anyone who may have seen the crash should call police at 705-264-1201.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A Timmins intersection is closed to traffic after a serious crash this morning.

Multiple people were injured in the collision between a pickup truck and passenger vehicle that happened earlier today (March 28) at the intersection of Airport Road and Westmount. Airport Road is closed from Theriault Boulevard to Lamminen Avenue. Police expect the closure will last all morning.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area. 

"The Timmins Police Service maintains control of the area, working in conjunction with the Timmins Fire Department and EMS personnel on scene," reads the news release.

"Local traffic is further advised to be patient, alert and to use good judgment at all times given that traffic volumes will be significantly increased in the north end of the city as a result of the collision and resulting traffic congestion."
