The Timmins Symphony Orchestra will be joined by the Timmins Symphony Chorus for the When You Believe, a virtual Christmas performance airing Dec. 19.

A performance of timeless holiday classics presented in a very 2020 way is debuting tonight.

The Timmins Symphony Orchestra's annual Christmas performance is going virtual. When You Believe will be streamed tonight, Dec. 19, at 8 p.m.

It features local dancers from Classical Dance Arts, Melissa Kelly Academy, Northern Diamonds Academy of Dance and Pat Picard School of Dance. They'll be dancing to selections from the Nutcracker suite performed by the local musicians.

“Timmins Symphony Orchestra is extremely excited this Christmas to able to partner with organizations virtually to compile a Christmas performance unlike what anyone has seen throughout COVID,” said Cameron Grant, TSO board member.

The Timmins Symphony Chorus and Hogtown Brass will also take to the virtual stage for the event.

This is Hogtown Brass' second-consecutive holiday performance with the TSO. Last year they were in town to share the stage for the annual event.

“Their renditions and quippy remarks lent to much enjoyment in so much that we reached out to them to see if they could join us virtually this year and they’ll be performing three holiday classics,” said Grant.

Some selections to look forward to in tonight's performance include the Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah, Gloria from Antonio Vivaldi, and it all culminates with When You Believe, an excerpt from The Prince of Egypt.

It will stream on the Timmins Symphony Orchestra's Facebook page.

You can also catch the show Dec. 22 on Eastlink channels 10 and 610.
