TIMMINS - People using the diabetes centre now have a new spot to visit.

Effective today (Dec. 2), the Timmins and District Hospital's diabetes education centre has moved across the street from the hospital on Ross Avenue East.

About 150 patients, including adults and children, visit the centre each month, according to the hospital news release.

For people with diabetes, the body doesn't produce enough insulin or isn't using the insulin it produces effectively. The facility offers help for people with type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes.

“We look forward to welcoming patients to our new location and continuing to provide the  support they need to manage their diabetes effectively," said manager Lorna Green in a news release.

The move is part of the hospital's strategic plan to improve patient experience.

“At TADH we are focused on providing patient-centred and exemplary care to Northerners,” said Kate Fyfe, president and CEO. “Our team of dedicated  health care professionals will continue to offer comprehensive services, including  education, management programs, and regular screenings, ensuring that our patients  receive the highest level of care in our new location.”
