This term of Timmins council has sat together around the table for the last time.

At the end of the Sept. 25 meeting, council voted to not hold a meeting in October.

Timmins Mayor Steve Black said the items that needed to get passed in the near future were brought to this week's meeting.

With the election coming up Oct. 22, and online voting starting Oct. 1., he said having meetings while voting is open "comes with some political scrutiny as well, so we thought it would be best to adjourn until after the municipal elections since voting starts in six days."

He also thanked members for their contributions throughout the term and efforts around the table.

If there was an emergency situation, after the meeting CAO Dave Landers said the group could meet again.

“Most of the business that we had that’s on the books right now, we’ve been able to wrap up at this point in time,” he said. “As we head into the election we wouldn’t have a meeting unless there was something that did arise that needed council to come together to deal with an unplanned matter.”
