TIMMINS - With up to 15 centimetres of snow expected today, the city is prepping to clear the roads overnight.
A Timmins-wide snowplowing operation starts just after midnight, at 12:01 a.m. on Dec. 5.
"Crews will be deployed to plow city streets, rural roads, laneways and parking lots across the city. Some areas may not be plowed overnight and will be plowed during the daytime hours," reads the city's notice.
A winter parking ban is in effect until April 30.
Vehicles parked on the street, boulevard or city-owned parking lots between 11:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. will be subject to a $50 fine. If it's not paid within three days the fine increases to $75. The vehicle may also be towed at the expense of the owner. Streets exempt from the ban have signs indicating it.
