$2,500 grant to Kirkland Lake Fire Department for natural gas detection equipment

MORRISBURG - Union Gas is helping Kirkland Lake Fire Department improve safety through a $2,500 grant to purchase new natural gas detection equipment.

Paul Dambremont, Union Gas assistant support manager, presented the cheque to Kirkland Lake Fire Department fire chief, John Fredericks today at the fire hall.

The Kirkland Lake Fire Services respond to numerous suspected gas leak incidents annually and the Union Gas grant will be used to upgrade the gas detection system to ensure the safety of our responders.

"At Union Gas, we are committed to the safety of our employees and our communities," said Lapierre. "And we show that commitment by investing in local fire departments whose fire prevention, education and fire suppression programs help us all stay safer."

"Union Gas has been a valuable partner to the fire service in Kirkland Lake," said Chief Fredericks. "Working together in the name of safety will allow us all to keep our community safe."

For more than 100 years, Union Gas has been privileged to work in more than 400 Ontario communities.

Each year, the company supports the communities where its employees live and work through thousands of volunteer hours for local charitable and non-profit organizations, major charitable giving and sponsorships.

Last year, Union Gas donated close to $3 million to community and charitable organizations in Ontario, including over $928,000 to United Way.

In addition, Union Gas employees, retirees, family and friends provided over 17,000 volunteer hours to help strengthen the communities where they live and work. For more information visit uniongas.com/community.
