Purchase of Fire Safety Equipment and Training

Union Gas helps the Timmins Fire Department purchase new gas detection equipment and provide training to fire fighters at six fire stations serving Timmins and area, courtesy of a $6,000 grant awarded today.

Gerry Gravel, utility services construction manager and John Davidson, utility services and construction team lead, Union Gas, presented the cheque to Mike Pintar, Timmins fire chief today at the main fire hall. 

Volunteers from each of the 6 volunteer fire halls in the Timmins area joined the presentation.

The Timmins Fire Department responds to over 1000 calls per year and for many, Gas Detection Equipment is paramount to firefighter safety as well for the homeowner.

New Gas Detection Equipment provides the Fire Department with tools to accurately measure carbon monoxide in homes and to make necessary recommendations.
