Timmins Rock vs. Blind River Beavers
Friday, Oct. 4, 7 p.m.
McIntyre Arena, 85 McIntyre Rd.

Timmins’ Junior A hockey squad is on home ice for a regular season game. The box office opens 90 minutes before the puck drops. Tickets at the door are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors (60 years and up) and students, $9 for youth ages seven to 12, and $7 for children six and under with a guardian. Sitting on the licensed balcony is $17. Tickets are also available online here.

LevelUp! Career Fair
Friday, Oct. 4, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., and 3-7:30 p.m.
Northern College, Timmins campus

This event is geared to youth in Grades 7-12. The trades and tech truck will be on site with hands-on activities for youth to explore different skilled trade careers, including, a virtual auto painting simulator, virtual heavy machinery simulator, a virtual welding simulator, electrical wall, pneumatics system, and more. Tradespeople from Agnico Eagle Mines will also be talking about their careers.

Doors Open
Saturday, Oct. 5, noon - 4 p.m.

Eight local sites are on the list for the annual Ontario Heritage Trust event. The local stops in 2024 are the Timmins Museum: NEC, the Timmins Public Library, the Hollinger House, Quilts for Survivors, the Timmins Memorial Cemetery, the Tisdale Cemetery, Dead Man's Point (the Whitney Cemetery) and the Porcupine Historical Park. Rock Solid Wrestling presents Valor 2
Saturday, Oct. 5, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
École secondaire catholique Thériault, 341 Theriault Blvd.

Live wrestling is back for a night of fun, family-friendly action in the ring. All proceeds from this event are for Access Better Living. Tickets are available at Alfie's Cigar Store on Third Avenue in downtown Timmins, Wicked Stuff at the Timmins Square, and online here. Ticket prices are $25 for ringside and $20 for general admission.

Matheson OctoBeer Fest
Saturday, Oct. 5, 1 p.m.
387 Highway 11, Black River-Matheson

There will be five live bands playing, three craft breweries, alcohol free options, a game zone, a five-kilometre beer-tasting fun run (tickets sold separately), great food, prizes to be won, and free rides home to anyone in within the Township of Black River-Matheson. This popular market is set up weekly until Thanksgiving. Stop by every week to pick up fresh local food, shop the crafters and artisans, and learn more about local organizations.

The Hollinger Open Pit Lookout 

Get a glimpse into Newmont Porcupine’s mining operation in the middle of town. New this year is a bust of mining pioneer Benny Hollinger, who discovered the mine in 1909. It’s open seasonally seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. except when the mine is blasting, which is twice a day.
