A rare phenomena was in the night sky.
Aug. 30 was a super blue moon. No, the moon wasn't blue — the term refers to it being the second full moon in the calendar month. It was also a supermoon, which means it was closer to the Earth and looked larger in the sky. It appeared its largest just after 9:30 p.m.
Of note is that it's also the second supermoon of August as the Aug. 1 Sturgeon moon also qualified for the phenomena.
