1 killed in Highway 101 crash involving a transport

EDITOR'S NOTE: The road has fully reopened.

FOLEYET - Highway 101 west of Timmins remains closed for the investigation into a fatal crash that happened yesterday afternoon. 

Around 3 p.m. on Sept. 18, there was a collision involving a passenger vehicle and commercial motor vehicle on Highway 101 in Keith Township east of Foleyet. 

A 38-year-old person from Chapleau was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle received life-threatening injuries, said South Porcupine OPP in a news release. 

The highway remains closed, said police. The OPP traffic incident management enforcement (TIME) team is helping with the investigation. 

There is a detour for passenger vehicles on Nova Road.
